Eliza's Glasses

When we took Eliza into the ophthalmologist for a full Kindergarten eye check last summer, she said Eliza was borderline on needing glasses.  Eliza would either improve or need them and to come in next year.  So we added the whole family to the vision plan in January.  Two weeks later Eliza told me that she could see the board in the classroom so much better when they changed seats.  I made a vision appointment that day.

No surprise, she needed glasses.  We got her the amazingly light and durable kind of frames Jason has fallen in love with - iGreen.
She picked pink and we let her, because, well, she loves them.  Fortunately, she's cute in everything! Invision (where we go to get glasses) gave her a stand (elephant now named "Ellie") for them to live on if they aren't on her face.

She has taken care of them really well and loves that they are magic in the sun.  Yay for insurance that let the photochromic be free!  We are working on remembering them every morning, and we sometimes fail.  She looks adorable and has been doing so much better in school because of them!

Valentine's Day 2015

I think Valentine's day is so much fun!  We prepped the school stuff on Sunday.  The teachers made it easy on us and we made it easy on ourselves.  Only Laura had to do a box, and she just wanted to reuse one from a previous year.  The girls love to give ring pops, so I just printed out return address labels and they stuck them on for their friends - it's hard to write on plastic.  We utilized this template and did a nicer gift for their teachers.
The girls dressed adorably for school in festive shirts.  We awakened early to complete 3 heart hairdos that they loved sporting.

I was able to volunteer in Sara Rosie's classroom for the party.  It was a bit of a firedrill as I didn't know I had to do a game until 5:00 the night before, but it all turned out beautifully.  Thank you pinterest and cheap copies.  I loved being in the classroom with her!
Then we celebrated our family Valentine's on Saturday.  The girls got little baskets in the morning from Jason and I.  They loved their little stuffed animals, chocolate, and pencils.
That night we had my folks (and Kaitlyn) over for our traditional fondue.  It was yummy and so much fun!

Newbery Fun

I was able to do the Wasatch Front Mock Newbery again this year.  It was great!  We actually picked the winner and one of the Honors.  We picked "Crossover" for the win (absolutely one of my favorite books of the year) and "Brown Girl Dreaming" (so beautiful) for the honor.
The girls got up early in the morning with me to watch the awards.  And I sent them to school with new"Berry" treats to celebrate.

Zoo Membership

Our planetarium membership expired, so we decided to do a zoo membership this year.  They have a new Africa area and it's been a little while since we did the zoo.  Laura is thrilled to have zebras back!

Our membership includes unlimited rides on the carousel and train (currently closed for the season) and is super fun.  We've really enjoyed going in the colder weather.  The crowds are non-existent and the big cats are so active.
It's also fun to escape the cold in the small animal and reptile house.  Sara's become good friends with the giant tortoise and Eliza loves the alligators.
We also can bring guests for free, so we brought Ben, Alex and Jackson.  So much fun!
