I have been thinking quite a bit about independence lately. Each day I watch Laura grow in independence and the elderly people in my office deal with their shrinking independence. I am starting to understand the importance of independence in one's self worth. I am so grateful that I have family and friends to support me through my times of low independence.

Laura's current independent activity is making a cheese quesadilla 100% by herself. She adores being able to get everything out of the fridge, make the quesadilla and work the microwave. A darling note: she always remembers to count down the 9 seconds that it takes to heat up the quesadilla.
