Sara Rosie at 10 Years Old

Sara Rosie had her birthday and added a digit!  She is one amazing kiddo!

We started at a new dance studio that emphasizes ballet and she got in a level much higher than we expected.  Well done, Rosie!  It is so amazing!!  So, she's been spending all Summer dancing six hours each weekday in intensives at Barlow.  I've seen a lot of her like this.
For her birthday she wanted to go climbing with the family.  She was amazing and we all had a great time!

She picked lots of fun clothes and some crafting items for her gifts.
We went out to sushi for her birthday dinner and she had homemade cinnamon rolls for her candles.

Something extra special is that she decided to donate her hair to locks of love for her birthday. Nicole came over and helped us do the cut and it was super excited to send it off!  She looks adorable and I love what she did for a kid with cancer!
The results of her birthday interview are as follows:

November 2016

November was busy with school, plays, choir, and dance preparations.

AFJHS Little Mermaid
Laura was able to be in her first school musical. She was a Mersister in Little Mermaid.  I helped make the mersister costumes and she was adorable.
Laura also got to be on the news and do some more singing with One Voice.
Finally, we had Thanksgiving with the Fitzgerald side of the family this year and it was lovely!

October 2016

October was a fun and busy month!

Hayden and Sarah's Wedding
We ran down to St. George for Hayden and Sarah's wedding!  It was beautiful and happy and we were so grateful to be part of their special day.  We share a love of Disney with them - especially Nightmare Before Christmas - and adored their themed wedding and the cake topper we got them for their gift.

Zion National Park
While down in St George we had to stop by Zion National Park.  Though we'd been there before, we hadn't done Jr Ranger there. So, we got our badges and a highlight was getting to go on a Ranger Led Hike.

Bryce Canyon
We also ran down to Bryce Canyon for a quick trip.  It was cold, but oh so beautiful!  We loved the shuttle system there.  The hikes were great for our imagination.  The long bus tour was our favorite.  The girls got another Junior Ranger badge to add to their collection here.  And, we want to come back when there's snow.

Disneyland
We also took a trip to Disneyland over Fall break.  This is when Laura made use of her birthday experiences.  She chose to do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique with her sisters.  It was totally magical and a precious memory!  We also went to dinner at Blue Bayou which was beyond cool!  And, let's be honest, Disney at Halloween time is our favorite and we relished every moment together!

Halloween
This year for Halloween, Laura got a bit cooler and so went avant garde and made her own steampunk Jack Skellington.  Rosie was a steampunk girl and Eliza was a flapper.  Laura took them trick or treating that night and I and my folks saw the little girls in their Halloween parade at school.  One of the most fun parts was trick or treating at Daddy's work - DOMO.

Laura at 13 Years Old

Holy Moly, she's a teenager.  But, she's so not a teenager.  She's happy and wonderful even if she is one of the busiest people I know.
Most of her birthday presents are waiting for her in the form of experiences at Disneyland.  However, we got her a few fun teenage things: beauty products, music, a phone case, and accessories.
We went out to all you can eat sushi for her birthday meal and had cream puffs for her candles.

The results of her birthday interview are as follows:

Best Friend: Sisters, Jordyn, Brea, Lillian
Favorite Entertainment: Playing with Sisters, Reading
Favorite place to be: Disneyland
Favorite movie: Get Smart
Favorite music: Meghan Trainor, Waitress and Hamilton (musicals)
Favorite book: Harry Potter, The War that Saved My Life, Goodbye Stranger
Favorite food: Sushi and Salmon
Favorite treat: Cream Puffs, Mom's Homemade Cookies, Macarons
Favorite activity: Being in a Play, One Voice, Friday nights with friends, Weekend trips with family
Favorite TV show:  Whose Line is it Anyway, Great British Bake Off
Laura keeps super busy in two choirs - the advanced choir at school AF Singers, and One Voice Children's Choir where her favorite thing is to record.  She is currently in three plays all while keeping up with her advanced classes and maintaining perfect As.  She's becoming very stylish and loves her clothes and cool shoes as well as painted fingernails.  Laura is magnificent with her sisters and is such a good friend to them as well as a spectacular example.  She has friends of all ages and makes them wherever she goes.  How we all love this girl!!

RV Adventures

Did we mention that we bought an RV?  Well, we did!  We had been wanting the freedom of one of these for quite some time and finally found the Unicorn RV we were looking for - so, we named her Eunice.  For our first adventure we went to Mesa Verde, Goosenecks, and Natural Bridges.
We loved staying in the campground at Mesa Verde, meeting the locals (deer) and catching the most interesting Ranger Talk ever that night.    It was fascinating and Rosie was able to apply her knowledge about Ancestral Puebloans the next week at school.
We took some tours into the cliff dwellings, ascended scary ladders, and looked at lots and lots of kivas.  Jason became a master at driving Eunice and I experienced driving her in a torrential downpour.  The girls earned 3 Junior Ranger badges here: Mesa Verde, the 50th anniversary for Historic Parks, as well as turned in their packets for the Centennial badge.
Mesa Verde went a lot more quickly than we anticipated, so we left our campsite reservation and moved on to stay the night in Bluff.  Ahh, the freedom of an RV!  Then it was onto Goosenecks State Park. It was a brief stay, but utterly marvelous.  It was so fun to see the curves of the river far below and look out at Monument Valley.

After Goosenecks, we went to Natural Bridges National Monument.  We wished we had more time there.  There were some fun hikes with more ladders.  It was empty and we felt like we had the majesty of the Natural Bridges all to ourselves.
We were able to go beneath them and really get some good exploring in.  We earned our 4th Jr Ranger badge here and made it back home late that night.
It is so wonderful to have the freedom to explore all the natural wonders around us!
