Laura at 13 Years Old

Holy Moly, she's a teenager.  But, she's so not a teenager.  She's happy and wonderful even if she is one of the busiest people I know.
Most of her birthday presents are waiting for her in the form of experiences at Disneyland.  However, we got her a few fun teenage things: beauty products, music, a phone case, and accessories.
We went out to all you can eat sushi for her birthday meal and had cream puffs for her candles.

The results of her birthday interview are as follows:

Best Friend: Sisters, Jordyn, Brea, Lillian
Favorite Entertainment: Playing with Sisters, Reading
Favorite place to be: Disneyland
Favorite movie: Get Smart
Favorite music: Meghan Trainor, Waitress and Hamilton (musicals)
Favorite book: Harry Potter, The War that Saved My Life, Goodbye Stranger
Favorite food: Sushi and Salmon
Favorite treat: Cream Puffs, Mom's Homemade Cookies, Macarons
Favorite activity: Being in a Play, One Voice, Friday nights with friends, Weekend trips with family
Favorite TV show:  Whose Line is it Anyway, Great British Bake Off
Laura keeps super busy in two choirs - the advanced choir at school AF Singers, and One Voice Children's Choir where her favorite thing is to record.  She is currently in three plays all while keeping up with her advanced classes and maintaining perfect As.  She's becoming very stylish and loves her clothes and cool shoes as well as painted fingernails.  Laura is magnificent with her sisters and is such a good friend to them as well as a spectacular example.  She has friends of all ages and makes them wherever she goes.  How we all love this girl!!

RV Adventures

Did we mention that we bought an RV?  Well, we did!  We had been wanting the freedom of one of these for quite some time and finally found the Unicorn RV we were looking for - so, we named her Eunice.  For our first adventure we went to Mesa Verde, Goosenecks, and Natural Bridges.
We loved staying in the campground at Mesa Verde, meeting the locals (deer) and catching the most interesting Ranger Talk ever that night.    It was fascinating and Rosie was able to apply her knowledge about Ancestral Puebloans the next week at school.
We took some tours into the cliff dwellings, ascended scary ladders, and looked at lots and lots of kivas.  Jason became a master at driving Eunice and I experienced driving her in a torrential downpour.  The girls earned 3 Junior Ranger badges here: Mesa Verde, the 50th anniversary for Historic Parks, as well as turned in their packets for the Centennial badge.
Mesa Verde went a lot more quickly than we anticipated, so we left our campsite reservation and moved on to stay the night in Bluff.  Ahh, the freedom of an RV!  Then it was onto Goosenecks State Park. It was a brief stay, but utterly marvelous.  It was so fun to see the curves of the river far below and look out at Monument Valley.

After Goosenecks, we went to Natural Bridges National Monument.  We wished we had more time there.  There were some fun hikes with more ladders.  It was empty and we felt like we had the majesty of the Natural Bridges all to ourselves.
We were able to go beneath them and really get some good exploring in.  We earned our 4th Jr Ranger badge here and made it back home late that night.
It is so wonderful to have the freedom to explore all the natural wonders around us!

Laura as Amaryllis in Music Man at Sundance

Laura was cast as "Amaryllis" in Music Man that played all summer at Sundance Summer Theater.  She got to work with professors and professionals and had an amazing experience.  She learned so much from all of them.
She made many new friends and it was a show that we all loved going to again and again.
Another bonus was that she got paid for acting in this one.  So proud of this girl!

Eliza at 7 Years Old

Eliza's birthday from us was a lot of her favorites.  She picked her favorite meal of spaghetti and meatballs.  She received her first CD (Meghan Trainor) lots of dressups including a Minnie Mouse apron to help Mom cook.  The biggest treat was that her sisters let her get her ears pierced a year early to avoid the horrible clip on earrings from team.

Best Friend: Sisters, Makayla, Alyssa
Favorite Entertainment: play with sisters, dress up, help mom cook
Favorite place to be: Disneyland
Favorite movie: The Wizard of Oz
Favorite music: Meghan Trainor
Favorite book: Magic Tree House, Clementine

Eliza is still wonderfully snuggly, super spunky and has more friends than she can count.  She still loves her skirts, but is transitioning into jeans.  Eliza will always pick fruit as her favorite food.  She is hilarious and makes us all smile daily.  How we all love Eliza!

This is the poster we made for her 7th birthday at school to tell about herself.  I think she's awfully cool!

Laura in Jane Eyre

Laura was cast as Young Jane in Jane Eyre at Hale Center Theater Orem.  It ran for a month and a half and was such an amazing experience.  She performed with very experienced and professional actors and learned so much!

She got better and better as the run went on, singing and acting so beautifully.  It was a difficult and demanding role, and she acted with maturity and serious skill.  I was so proud of her!  (**Many pictures courtesy of Suzy O Photography from Hale Center Theater Orem)
Laura made many new friends and was grateful for all the friends and family who came out to support her.
Her hair was super tricky for this one (historically accurate curls), but she looked so perfect playing oppposite her old Jane and I enjoyed the time catching up with her each day as we curled.
She also earned a paycheck for the first time!  Well done, Laura!!
