November 2015

November was full of plays!  Laura was Betty in The Crucible at the Echo.  She did a fantastic job with a difficult role.
Then there was also AFYT.  We were heavily involved this year.  Laura was Young Fiona and an Elf in Shrek, Eliza was in the preshow, and I was in charge of the costumes with Stacy.  The girls were adorable, the costumes were difficult but rewarding.  It was a great play and lots of fun for the family!
And, Laura had lots to do with One Voice Children's choir.  She sang all over with some highlights being at the Mall on Black Friday, onstage with Kevin Olusula from Pentatonix at the Capitol Theater, and on TV on the 23rd.  An amazing story with Kevin Laura (my 12 yr old) sang with One Voice Children's Choir at the Interfaith Christmas Concerts. After rehearsing her solo with the choir in the green room, she stepped out in the hallway. Kevin (yes, the incredibly talented and very successful member of Pentatonix) stopped her to compliment her on her singing. But, his kindness and wonderful influence continued as he gave her his time and chatted with her for 5 minutes about her music. At the final show he turned around onstage and remembered her again.  These few moments not only solidified her love for music, but also her quest to be a good person. I was already a huge fan of Kevin's music, but now I am even a bigger fan of him as a human being. Thank you for teaching her that being talented is important, but it's even more important to be a kind and uplifting person!
Finally, we had Thanksgiving with Jason's family and it was lovely.

Halloween 2015

This year for Halloween the girls had lots of fund dressing up.  For trick or treating, Laura was an Elf and for School she was Little Red Riding Hood.

Sara Rosie rocked the spooky as Wednesday Addams.
Eliza was utterly adorable as Dorothy from the Wizard Of Oz.
The girls had tons of fun trick or treating and we got to see them at their school parade also!  Happy Halloween!!

Disneyland at Halloween

We took a few days after Laura before got slammed with two plays to run to Disneyland.  It was magical and perfect.  It was hot, but so fun.
We loved meeting characters, adored the paint the night parade, and fought the dark side in Jedi training.  It was perfect.
Laura was amazing and helped me make the video of this trip!

Laura's Birthday - 12 years old and Shakespeare Competition

Laura decided to spend her birthday party money on a new fancy phone.  Yep, she's pretty much a teenager.  She still got a few more little gifts and celebrated with candles in her ice cream.
Her actual birthday was spent in Cedar City competing in the Shakespeare competition.  She did a group piece and a monologue from Hamlet.  She won second place in her monologue competition against hundreds of kids - most of them high schoolers.

Blood Moon

We stayed up late and watched the blood moon eclipse.  We made blood moon pies, used a telescope and had a great time watching it!

First Day of School 2015

This year Laura started Junior High.  We ran into all sorts of troubles with her school schedule (apparently her birthday kicked her out of registering) but got it all worked out before she began.  The lockers were difficult - they are ancient - but some practice got that all worked out too.

Eliza started first grade and has Mrs Hunt.  She is thrilled to be a big kid and eat lunch at school.
Rosie started third grade and has her first male teacher - Mr Blood.  She has lots of friends in her class and is an expert at elementary school now.
Big backpacks and a big day!

Eliza's 6th Birthday

We celebrated Eliza's birthday at Disneyland, but we continued the celebration at home.  Her sisters got her a knockoff American Girl Doll so she could join them in play.  It was a big hit!

I made her another skirt and we got her the Belle day dress for dressup.  We ordered it on the phone from Disneyland because it had just been released and we had to have it in time for her special day.  She loves to dress up!

She requested strawberry shortcake for her dessert and enjoyed every morsel.

Disneyland July 2015

After Laura's two big plays and me doing costumes were done, we ran to Disneyland.  I had told my new job this had been on the books and they were cool to let me go.

The trip was magical and just what the doctor ordered.  We loved the time together and tried out Jedi Training for the first time where Eliza "skipped into battle" then quickly backed away from Darth Vadar.
The character breakfast and new night parade were big highlights.  Also, we love that Eliza can ride almost every coaster.  Being with the family in Disneyland is perfect!
