Disneyland at Halloween

We took a few days after Laura before got slammed with two plays to run to Disneyland.  It was magical and perfect.  It was hot, but so fun.
We loved meeting characters, adored the paint the night parade, and fought the dark side in Jedi training.  It was perfect.
Laura was amazing and helped me make the video of this trip!

Laura's Birthday - 12 years old and Shakespeare Competition

Laura decided to spend her birthday party money on a new fancy phone.  Yep, she's pretty much a teenager.  She still got a few more little gifts and celebrated with candles in her ice cream.
Her actual birthday was spent in Cedar City competing in the Shakespeare competition.  She did a group piece and a monologue from Hamlet.  She won second place in her monologue competition against hundreds of kids - most of them high schoolers.

Blood Moon

We stayed up late and watched the blood moon eclipse.  We made blood moon pies, used a telescope and had a great time watching it!

First Day of School 2015

This year Laura started Junior High.  We ran into all sorts of troubles with her school schedule (apparently her birthday kicked her out of registering) but got it all worked out before she began.  The lockers were difficult - they are ancient - but some practice got that all worked out too.

Eliza started first grade and has Mrs Hunt.  She is thrilled to be a big kid and eat lunch at school.
Rosie started third grade and has her first male teacher - Mr Blood.  She has lots of friends in her class and is an expert at elementary school now.
Big backpacks and a big day!

Eliza's 6th Birthday

We celebrated Eliza's birthday at Disneyland, but we continued the celebration at home.  Her sisters got her a knockoff American Girl Doll so she could join them in play.  It was a big hit!

I made her another skirt and we got her the Belle day dress for dressup.  We ordered it on the phone from Disneyland because it had just been released and we had to have it in time for her special day.  She loves to dress up!

She requested strawberry shortcake for her dessert and enjoyed every morsel.

Disneyland July 2015

After Laura's two big plays and me doing costumes were done, we ran to Disneyland.  I had told my new job this had been on the books and they were cool to let me go.

The trip was magical and just what the doctor ordered.  We loved the time together and tried out Jedi Training for the first time where Eliza "skipped into battle" then quickly backed away from Darth Vadar.
The character breakfast and new night parade were big highlights.  Also, we love that Eliza can ride almost every coaster.  Being with the family in Disneyland is perfect!

Into The Woods

Laura got cast as Little Red Ridinghood in AFYT's production of Into the Woods.  I was crazy enough to say that I would be co-costume mistress for it.  And even crazier, because I started a new job a few weeks before it went on.
Laura did an amazing job and I adored seeing her in a comedic role.  She is so funny!
She sang beautifully and was hilarious.  We all enjoyed watching this one every time.  She had great support from family, friends and previous cast members.  Thank you to everyone who came!  She also made new friends and renewed other friendships.
The costumes turned out well (Thank heavens I had a great co-mistress, Jaime) and we all had a lot of fun!

Uinta 4th of July

We escaped the heat and went to the Uinta's for the 4th of July.  We made sure to see Eliza's favorite: waterfalls when it was freezing cold.
It warmed up when we saw some gorgeous high lakes.
There were spectacular views!
Finally, we went on an amazingly gorgeous hike and it started raining again, but the girls were great sports, fantastic hikers, and so much fun.
My goodness we live in a beautiful place!

Grandpa Gary's 80th and a Star Wars Treasure Hunt

My Mom coordinated an amazing shin dig and got all my sibs and most of their kids in town to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday.
We had a huge girl sleepover out our house every night and the girls adored having all their cousins over to chat and laugh until all hours.

Jason and I went to a dinner for just the adults on the first night.  It was wonderful!  I have really smart and funny siblings, who all married equally smart and funny people, and am blessed to call them all friends!

We spent one great day down at 9 Mile Canyon all together.  It's so beautiful and fascinating!  It was hot, but neat to show off our unique state to the family from out of town.  We had car troubles (a lemon of a battery) but survived them and had a great time despite the troubles.
They combined the grandkids annual treasure hunt as part of the celebration up at the cabin.  Jason and I were in charge of this and we went with a Star Wars theme.  It was a huge amount of work, but it was really well received and we still see the kids wearing their shirts.
Jason and I had a great time coming up with themed clues and prizes with some of our favorites being Edible Ewoks (Gummy Bears), Princess Leia Buns (Honey Buns), Star Wars Pez, Hans Rolos, and many versions of Lightsabers (bubble wands and real telescoping ones).

The weekend ended with everyone going to dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory.  It was wonderful to catch up with the whole family, renew our bonds as cousins and siblings, and celebrate Dad.  We were exhausted, but I'd do it all again tomorrow if I could.
