Laura at 8 Years Old

Holy Moly! Laura is 8 years old. She is an amazing girl! I'm going to take a moment and openly brag about what a remarkable kid she is.
Laura is brilliant: she is reading at a 10th grade level and is in 4/5th grade math. She soaks up information like a sponge, memorizes quickly, and has perfect scores on everything she brings home regardless of the subject. Laura is social: she makes friends so easily and everyone wants to play with her. The phone calls for playdates are constant. Laura is talented: she sings like an angel, plays the piano so beautifully that her teacher calls her a "prodigy", dances very well, and is an amazing actress. Laura is a sweetheart: she is sensitive, thinks of others, and has no prejudices. I just don't know how I got the privilege of raising such a remarkable human being!
Her actual birthday was fun. She brought candy bars to school and got to sit in the "castle" in her classroom all day. Straight from school we went to get her ears pierced. It was a little traumatic ("Sorry I made such a fuss.") but she loved the results and wouldn't budge from wanting to get them done. We had her birthday dinner (salmon, noodles, berries, root beer float cupcakes) with Grandma and Grandpa. She opened presents - the big one was "a bike with gears" so she can ride more with Jason and I. I wish the weather would cooperate so we could really get out and ride with her!!
Laura is currently 47 inches tall. Here are the results of her birthday interview...

  2. She really is the best kid. I'm glad that you got some "shameless" bragging on there because, as our journal, we need to document what an incredible kid she is. I love you more than anything, Laura!!!

  3. Wow! Laura is awesome! I already knew that though! I am so behind. I need to get Lily's eight year post up. You inspired me. I actually asked her questions. Now I just need to post what she said! She did such a great job singing at her baptism. I hope you got that on video. If not, I would. She sings it beautifully!
